Septic Inspections

We provide Septic Inspections according to the PSMA Standards (Pennsylvania Septage Management Association). The septic system is the highest dollar system in your home. Proper management is crucial and begins with a thorough inspection of its current condition and operation. Some mortgages require a clean septic inspection report.

1. A Septic Inspection is a hand tool evaluation of accessible components of a system. Tanks should be accessible within 12 inches of the ground surface and field location known and accessible. Deep digging and specialized tools such as a snake camera or backhoe can add additional cost and time.

2. DO NOT PUMP THE TANKS, prior to an inspection. Pumping may be required after or as part of an inspection.

3. An HLT will not hurt the system. An HLT (Hydraulic Load Test) is a two day test drive for a septic system. It is used to determine if a system can process a full day of liquid as designed.

4. A Cess Pool can pass inspection. A Cess Pool is an old style of septic system, but can be functional and found Satisfactory. When a cess pool is not functional, it is not allowed to be repaired in PA.
